The Story
1956:
Danilo Paccagnella opens a repair shop for sewing machines and equipment for shoemakers in the Venice-province town of Vigonovo
1966:
The business is moved to the Padua-province town of Noventa Padovana, not far from the Brenta Riviera. Here it starts to build its first machines for the leather goods sector
1970:
OMAC signs exclusive deal to sell Durkopp Adler sewing machines in Italy. Selling and repairing sewing machines becomes the company’s core business.
1978:
Alberto Paccagnella joins his father in the company, setting his sight on expanding the business in new markets. Danilo focuses his efforts on technological innovation and research and patents pioneering leather processing machines.
1980s:
The Paccagnella family makes a big change in direction by adopting a new business strategy: manufacture of leather processing machinery becomes the company’s core business. Rita Pra, Alberto Paccagnella’s wife, joins the company to coordinate the expansion into foreign markets. The first leather processing machines are exported to India and China and a global network of dealers is created.
1999:
The company moves its headquarters into a 5,000 square-metre plant in Padua, including production floor area of more than 3,500 square metres, a department entirely devoted to machinery development, and office space. The expansion into international markets continues: OMAC machines can now be found in Africa, the Americas, Australia and the Far East.
2007:
OMAC opens a subsidiary in Noida, India, one of the company’s strategic markets. Today, the company has four branches across India.
2012:
After obtaining his degree in Business Administration, Cristiano Paccagnella comes to work for the business, heading the sales department with his father. By now, the company is exporting 70% of its products in 70 countries around the world.
2018:
OMAC invests in the creation of hi-tech automated manufacturing lines and modular machinery for application in different industrial leather processing sectors, from automotive to boating and home furnishings.
2021:
OMAC adopts “Crafting Machines” as its new slogan to express the ability of its machines to create perfect products by bringing an artisanal dimension to industrial manufacturing. With its unique competency, OMAC sets the benchmark for the entire leather industry, helping stylists and designers from every sector actualise their visions.
